Introduction

Technal has developed two façade systems (Bonded Structural Glazing: VEC and Beaded Structural Glazing: VEP) using the same bearing structure. Both use structural glazing technology with glazing held in position glazing beads in the first version and bonded directly onto each frame in the second. Both versions consist of a structure inside which fixed and opening lights (top-hung) are fitted.


Features

Maximum dimensions (both versions):
- According to sections, transoms and static sizing rules (consult Technal).

Infill (both versions):
- 6 to 31 mm (glazed area depends on version)
- 31 to 41 mm (for pocket held sandwich panels)

Bearing structure (both versions):
- Inside width of hollow uprights and transoms : 71 mm.
- Square-cut assembly of uprights and transoms using special connectors.
- Same sections may be used for uprights and transoms.
- Contoured facades with projecting angles of up to 20o.

Fixed and opening frames (bonded structural glazing only):
- Available with or without edging (free-edget).
- Mitre-cut tubular sections assembled using crimp corner cleats.
- Glazing pre-bonded in workshop by specialist firms approved by the CEBTP.
- Top-hung opening frames only (max. weight per leaf : 100 kg).

Fixed and opening frames (beaded structural glazing only):
- Mitre-cut tubular sections assembled using crimp corner cleats.
- Glazing fitted in workshop with EPDM gaskets on inside and outside and clip-on glazing beads.
- Peripheral gaskets around frame for weathering and concealing fixing elements.
- Top-hung opening frames only (max. weight per leaf : 100 kg).

Appearance (both versions):
- Identical appearance on outside of fixed and opening lights (top-hung).
- 16 mm hollow gasket between fixed and opening aluminium frames.
- For beaded version, visible bead thickness of 28 mm.
